John Molson Women in Business Club Mentorship Program
WHY A MENTOR?
The WIBC Mentorship Program is a unique opportunity for our members to jumpstart their career by gaining insight, advice, and sometimes a little push from a successful senior business woman.
Mentorship (advice and coaching on personal development) and sponsorship (active advocacy for advancement) are key factors of one’s professional success. At the 2011 WIBC Annual Conference, when asked about how she became the Head of Business Financial Services at RBC, Andrea Bolger told us she had a very senior person in the organization become her mentor, to teach her all the organizational intricacies and to open the doors to the Bank’s “power” network.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The WIBC Mentorship program is open to women JMSB graduate students who are members of the WIBC. Each mentee/mentor pair agrees to meet at least once a month for an hour at an agreed upon location, for a period of 12 months from the initial match. Generally, a well-matched pair develops a strong relationship and is able to discuss on a variety of professional and work-life related topics. To help with a good start, WIBC also provides mentorship guidance to both mentees and mentors through mandatory orientation sessions in the fall.
PAIRING PROCESS
Each mentee must submit a Mentee Information Form and her CV to JMWIBC@gmail.com by September 30, 2012. Our VP-Mentorship Program will then contact you for a brief interview, which will help ensure the best possible pairing for your field, interests and personality. Our network of mentors have over 10 years experience in a wide array of industries and management fields; our VP-Mentorship will work confidentially with our consultant to find the mentor who is right for you.
